Hellmuth Departs from the 2008 WSOP

According to a recent report from the prestigious 2008 World Series of Poker championship, prominent poker professional Phil Hellmuth has been eliminated from the celebrated competition in 45th place. Hellmuth's departure from the WSOP means that the N/L Texas Hold 'em tournament will have a brand new king.

Hellmuth is best known for collecting a record eleven WSOP bracelets and for winning the 1989 WSOP. In 1989, Hellmuth, then 24 years old, became the youngest player in WSOP history to outperform poker champion Johnny Chan in a heads-up tournament and nab the first place prize in the competition.

At the 2007 WSOP, Hellmuth nabbed his record-breaking 11th bracelet in the $1,500 N/L Texas Hold 'em event. Although the accomplished poker player has never won a World Poker Tour (WPT) tournament, he successfully finished in the money ten times and participated in three final tables. To date, he has won $814,869 in WPT events.
