14-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was recently invited to take part in the upcoming Macau competition that is to be staged by the Asian Poker Tour (APT). Jeff Mann of the APT reportedly offered to cover all Phelps' expenses if the swimmer agreed to take a flight from Beijing to Macau and participate in the tournament.

To make the offer even more attractive than it already is Mann offered Phelps to provide Phelps with personal lessons with the poker world's most talented poker professionals. Despite the irresistible offer, it is yet not clear whether or not Phelps would occupy a seat at the Macau tournament table.

The APT Macau boasts the richest prize ever on the Asian tour, with the coveted first-place prize standing at $500,000. The tournament is designed to take place at the Galaxy World Hotel Casino and Resort. The list of accomplished poker pros that are expected to attend the event includes Doyle Brunson, J. C. Tran as well as Johnny Chan.
