Brian Lemke became the major news story of the day, when he broke his World Series (WSOP) of Poker cherry with a magnificent first cashout, taking first place and $692,658 in Event 15, a $5000 buy-in no limit Hold'em tournament.

The WSOP started with Thomas Keller appealing to the other player to postpone the start of the day until 2pm, but couldn't get the support he needed and it was time to shuffle-up and deal.

As Fabian Quoss had a 4-1 chip lead on Brian Lemke it looked as if the young German might be on his way to a bracelet. But Lemke had different plans. After 2 hours of play the 2 were just where they started. That was until the Kh Tc Lemke was holding would bring him a flush on the turn to best Fabian's A 3. It was the first time Brian led during heads-up play. Not long after gaining the chip lead, Brian would take his A Q and turn it into gold. The 2 would make it to the turn relatively easily, but after running into a straight there, Lemke shoved all-in and was called Quoss. No help would come to Fabian as he would have to settle with 2nd place.
