Limit Poker Games

Limit Poker GamesLimit poker games are fast gaining unprecedented popularity on both the offline and online poker game circuits. Both the wagering and raising amounts for each round in limit games are set at predetermined amounts. This preset amount is typically listed under the "stakes" column for that particular game/table.

Take a Limit Texas Holdem poker game as an example: In a $5/10 game, both the bets placed and raises for the initial 2 betting rounds must be exactly five bucks, not a penny more, nor less. Also, the final 2 rounds have a wager/raise amount of ten dollars. No Limit games differ from the Limit games in that there are no maximums on how much you can raise.

Betting in Limit Poker Games
In Limit Poker games, each round of betting has a maximum number (3) of permissible raises. This is known among poker players as the cap. Having said this, when a bet is placed, that bet may only be raised 3 times. Afterwards, all the other poker players must decided whether to call or fold their hand. When only two players are left playing the hand, the cap is increased to five raises. The reason for this is to speed up the overall pace of the game. Also, this 5-raise cap rule is applied to all the wagering rounds.

The main reason why fixed games are so popular is that they provide players with a certain level of security. Indeed limit poker game pots have the potential to grow rapidly. On average the limit pots also remain fairly consistent in size.

What's great about this particular aspect of limit poker is, it is more difficult to squander all your poker chips right off the bat. As a result, these fixed limit games are plenty more attractive to play, especially for new poker players intent on first acquainting themselves with the game.

Limit vs. No Limit Poker Games
The differences between Pot Limit games and Limit games are the wagering and raising limits permitted. The minimum amount you can raise is relative to the preceding wager or raise in that same hand. For instance, if the first card player wagered 10 bucks, the second player may raise a minimum of 10 dollars. The maximum you can raise is equal to the betting pot total plus total wagers placed by the other poker players in the wagering round, as well as the amount called by the player.

Here's one example: Say the pot in the game is $50. The first card player bets 10 dollars and the next player calls $10. In this scenario, the third poker player is free to raise up to as much as 80 dollars, that is, based on the $50 in the main pot, plus twenty from earlier wagers during the round, along with the player's $10 call.

Limit or no limit, poker has never been this much fun to play. Good luck and enjoy!
