Marc Gork takes the lead at EPT Prague

Submitted on Sun, 2009-12-06 15:38The EPT has just reached Prague for one of the most popular events of the year . The Prague stop was only added to the tour in 2007, but it has already become one of the most highly anticipated events. This is largely due to the popularity of the city itself.

Over 500 players have come up with the €5,000 buy-in to take part in the six-day tournament that is being held at the Hilton Hotel. This is the last stop on the tour before the poker world focuses on the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January that is set to be one of the biggest events of the year.

Last year’s winner of the Prague event, Salvatore Bonavena, was the first Italian champion of an EPT event after he won €750,000. He’ll be back this year to see if he can repeat his success. One player who has already gone home early is Shaun Deeb. His early exit follows on from his announcement earlier this week that he was quitting poker tournaments altogether.

After the first day’s action, German poetry student Marc Gork was in pole position after building up a stack of 169,200 chips. However, this only places him one chip ahead of the second placed Rui Coa. 119 players are through so far.
