PartyPoker Premier League IV Update
Last Wednesday marked the sixth and last heat of the PartyPoker Premier League IV with all the players still mathematically in contention for a spot at the six-handed final table. Phil Hellmuth was spotted off to the side of the Ravello bar doing some yoga as players were getting ready to take the set before the match, while Roland de Wolfe came in wearing a Darth Vader costume and brandishing a light red saber.
The league stages for the event, which is being held at the M Resort in Las Vegas, are now over. PartyPoker.it qualifier Giovanni Safina, a 44-year old civil lawyer from Palermo, Italy, has secured one of the guaranteed seats at the final table making Italian poker history, and is sure to leave with at least $108,000 of the $1.5 million prize pool after spending just 100 euros in an online satellite.
The format for the tournament is as follows: 6 heats, 8-handed tables, and a point system. Each contestant will play four times. The top four according to the number of points earned go to the final table after the initial heats. The 5th place contestant will play the 8th place contestant in a heads up tournament, as will the 6th versus 7th contestants. Winners of the heads up matches will complete the 6-handed final table.
