Fabien Dunlop Leads WSOPE Event 1 Final With Huge Lead
Event 1 of WSOP Europe has seen 600 players whittled down to just nine at the final table—and eight of those are residents of the UK. The opening event of the tour began on Friday, and Fabien Dunlop now takes a huge chip lead into the final day.
Dunlop has a total of 538,000 chips, compared to second-place Richard Allen with 332,000. But a hot favorite is JP Kelly in third place with 317,000 chips. After already winning one WSOP bracelet this year he will be the favorite for many.
The UK will be hoping for its first WSOPE bracelet, and only Adnan Alshamah from Syria can spoil the party. However, a lot of the UK players are not actually British and are just based in the country because of gambling restrictions in their own territories.
The event is a £1,000 No Limit Holdem tournament and is being held at the Empire Casino in London. The 600 entrants made it the biggest tournament field in the history of London poker. It has a total prize pool of £608,000, so the winner will get £136,000.
