Poker Hall of Fame nominees announced
The final nominees for the 2009 Poker Hall of Fame have been announced. As expected, some of biggest names in poker have appeared on the list. It is now up to the 15 Hall of Fame members and the Media Panel to vote on who should join the exclusive club.
There are nine candidates on the list: Phil Ivey, Dan Harrington, Barry Greenstein, Scotty Nguyen, Daniel Negreanu, Mike Sexton, Erik Seidel, Tom McEnvoy, and Men Nguyen.
The current Hall of Fame members and the Media Panel have until October 2 to submit their votes. After that, any of the players who manage to get 75% of the vote or more will be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Criteria for getting onto the shortlist included playing for high stakes, being consistent, and playing against top competitors in the game.
The results will be revealed on November 7 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. A special dinner ceremony will take place during the break at the Main Event Final Table at the World Series of Poker to make the announcement.
