Poker Movie - Casino Royale
If you are looking for a good movie about poker which has all the poker movie elements involved, you need to look no further than Casino Royale. For any James Bond fan, this is one of those poker films that certainly contains all the main criteria, involving narrow escapes aided by Q’s new advancements and of course a new car that Bond has to destroy by the end of the movie.
For Bond enthusiasts this is one of those movies about gambling that has a couple of new twists! Daniel Craig portrays Bond as the usual spy but he has many aspects we have not seen in the past. Bond was always portrayed as the unshakable spy who no matter what, always looked good and got the lady at the end. This time you see Bond unshaven and in pain! Maybe that's what made it one of the top poker movies.
In this portrayal of Bond we see a more human side of the special agent who has to play a game of very high stakes poker, not to mention a bad additude and superb fighting skills. It’s not a small game with the buy in being 10 million to get in! The setting is in Montenegro and this time, Bond not trusted with 10 million dollars of the British Government’s money has a treasury agent named Vesper Lynd (played by Eva Green) and the newest Bond girl, to make sure he wins the cash.
What makes this one of the excellent poker films is the importance of body language and how you can show your tells! In one part of the movie he misreads his opponents tell and loses all his chips. This forces him to ally with the US who fronts him the money to continue and ultimately allows him to win, forcing the bad guy to meet him in a confrontation which of course ends up with Bond winning! It’s this kind of action that makes poker in films most intriguing.
