Maverick (1994)- Bret Maverick (played by Mel Gibson) is a gambler who needs an additional $3,000 in order to enter a Winner Take All poker tournament scheduled to begin in a few days. He tries a variety of methods to raise the money he needs.

Maverick eventually joins forces with Annabelle Bransford, a feisty woman gambler, and the two fall into lots of comical situations as they try to get enough money to play. The movie captures the old-west perception of cowboys, back-alley bars and cards.
