Baby- A low card, typically 2,3,4,5 in all poker versions but lowball. A, 2,3,4,5 in lowball.


Backdoor Flush/Straight- The term refers to catching two cards to a flush or a straight on the turn and the river, when on the flop, a player holds only three cards to make the hand.


Backer- A person who pays for a players entrance into the game in exchange for a share of the pot (if won).


Back Seat- Late position.


Bad Beat- To have a strong hand but still lose the pot to a player who originally had a longshot hand. To lose a hand in a exceptionally miserable way.


Bait- A small bet designed to provoke opponents to raise.


Banker- The person in charge of the selling and cashing of chips. Usually, in a home game.


Bankroll- A player's money to be used during play.


Bar- Prohibit a player's entrance into a gaming venue.


Baseball- A version of 7-Card Stud, played solely at home. The game features 3s and 9s as wild cards.


BB- Short for 'Big Blind.'


Bet Blind- Place a bet without learning what your cards are first.


Big Player- A player who typically plays big no-limit games.


Black Maria- 1. Queen of Spades. 2. Ace of Spades.


Blank- A card that brings no value to a hand.


Blind- In Texas Hold 'em, a forced bet a player makes before he sees his cards.


Blivit- A hand of no value at all.


Blow- Lose the game.


Bluff- An attempt to make opponents believe that a player holds a strong/ weak hand when the situation is exactly the opposite. A maneuver designed to throw them off.


Box Man- The poker room dealer.


Bracelet- A reward given to the winner of any World Series of Poker Event.


Broker- A player with no money who comes to cards rooms in hope to find a backer. The backer's investment in the Broker is unlikely to be returned.


Bundle- A big bet.


Burn- To remove the deck's top card, face down. The move provides security that none of the participating players knows the value of the top card.


Button- A mark that indicates the dealer's position.


Buy In- The minimum amount of money required to invest in order to enter a game or a tournament.
