Early bet- In Stud, a small wager put after the first card. Also referred to as 'Bring-in bet."

 


Early position- The first three positions to the immediate left of the dealer, or to the left of the forced bets (the Big and Small blinds in Texas Hold 'em, for example).

 


Easy money- Jackpot won in a game against unexperienced poker players.

 


Eight-or-better- In Hi/Lo split poker games, the requirement that only a player with hand equal to or lower than 8s be allowed to collect the low half of the pot.

 


"El Paso"- A phrase meaning "I pass."

 


EV- Expected Value. Meaning, how much money you expect to nab from the current pot. For instance, if your odds of winning a $200 pot are 25%, your EV is $50.

 


Expectation- The average amount of money you expect to earn or lose on a particular hand if you make it.

 


Exposed card- A card dealt face up.
