G-Note- A $1,000 bill.


Gap- 1. A card that is missing from a hand that would otherwise make a straight. For instance, 2-3-5-6. (4 is the gap). 2. An unoccupied seat at a poker table.


Garbage- 1. Cards that are discarded. 2. A weak hand.


Gardena miracle- A highly unlikely lucky draw. A draw that defies all probabilities and beats a much better hand. The term is named after the city of Gardena, California, which was once considered the poker capital of America.


Go in- Invest money in the pot, and, therefore, stay in the game.


Go uphill- Trying to beat a stronger hand, a move that obviously defies the odds.


Gravy- A profit on a hand that was anticipated.


Greek- A player who cheats.


Grift- To apply cheating maneuvers. This typically involves stealing relatively small amounts of cash.


Grinder- A semi-professional poker player who considers poker a full-time job, but does not make much money from the game. He can often outperform mid-stake players but never succeed in high-stake events.
