The Cincinnati Kid
The Cincinnati Kid (1965)- It is New Orleans, Louisiana, in the early 30's. Eric Stoner (played by Steve McQueen) is a young poker player who arrives in the city with aspirations of beating the notorious Lancey Howard (played by Edward Robinson), known as the toughest poker player in the region. The hero's friend, a card dealer, helps him get a seat in the highest stakes poker game ever. The young hero believes that it is time for Howard to pass his poker champ title to the younger generation. He is confident that he can fulfill his dreams without the "help" a certain gangster is willing to provide. Although the film is a 'must' for all poker fans out there, it sometimes features rather flat actor performances.
